SOSNOWSKI WELCOMES AMCHAM PARTNERSHIP WITH US EMBASSY

SARAJEVO -- On December 12, 2007, US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Charles English, hosted a reception for members of the American business community in BiH.  The purpose of the gathering was to introduce the newly elected Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in BiH (AMCHAM), pay tribute to the outgoing Board and encourage AmCham to continue its efforts to attract U.S. investors to BiH.

Ambassador English used the opportunity to thank the outgoing Board for its leadership in raising a record amount of donations in support of demining activities throughout the country.  The Ambassador also stressed that, with Bosnia and Herzegovina more firmly on the road to EU membership, new opportunities would emerge that would require a greater understanding by local government of the role of business in helping the country secure its proper position in Europe.

In welcoming the new AmCham Board of Directors, he stressed that they would play an important role as partners in advancing a pro-business, market-friendly economic reform agenda that would benefit the investment climate in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as foreign investors.

AmCham Second Vice president Tie Sosnowski, who represented the Board of Directors, welcomed a renewed partnership with the Embassy in advancing the economic reform agenda. Sosnowski stressed that AmCham would continue to contribute to the development of a healthy business climate and to improving conditions not only for its members, but also for other businesses operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In recent years, the number of American firms doing in business in the country has grown steadily, across a variety of sectors. At present, the American Chamber of Commerce in Bosnia and Herzegovina has a total of 58 members.
